Each year, graduation offers us a special opportunity to come
together as a community and reflect on how far we have come. From the early days
of the Institute, when graduations were intimate gatherings marking a handful
of journeys, ISTA has grown into a thriving hub of scientific discovery and
education. This year, we are proud to celebrate the accomplishments of 55 PhD and three MSc graduates from 26 countries and 37 research groups. Their work
exemplifies the scientific and intellectual curiosity, and the collaborative
spirit that define ISTA.
We are
delighted to be joined by our keynote speaker, Univ.-Prof. Balázs Szendrői,
Professor of Algebraic Geometry at the University of Vienna, and Chair of the
Committee for Developing Countries of the European Mathematical Society. His work, and his dedication to foster mathematics
education and research in Africa, serve as an inspiration for us all, and
epitomize the values that ISTA stands for.
